harry potter and the failure of film

this is far from a unique or original complaint, but i'm pretty disappointed in the discrepancy between the level of detail in the books and the presentation on the screen. for the last month, i've been listening to the books on my ipod while driving (living in Los Angeles gives you abundant drive time) and i'm shocked to find that the films leave out entire characters and pretty significant sub-plots.

the movies already run over the designated "safe" 2 hours. why not leave more stuff in? afraid our attention spans can't handle it? i mean, come on hollywood. get your shit together.

  1. This is why I am so glad they are splitting Book 7 into two movies. Cause holy god, there is way too much backstory/series wrapup in there that just cannot be left out.
